Delivering 240 instruments for a topside module
The Challenge
JWF's client, a multinational oil and gas company, needed an expert instrumentation partner to deliver a critical topside project in the North Sea. Operating a platform on a high-pressure, high-temperature gas condensate field, the client undertook an ambitious project to install a new module that would dramatically improve gas production. The module would provide off-shore fluids processing and enable the export of condensate and gas from platform to refinery and on-shore terminal via the Forties Pipeline.
Our Solution
With supply-chain complexity, technical challenges and tight deadlines, JWF played a key role with expert knowledge of the UK and European instrumentation marketplace. Our client needed a partner who could integrate with internal teams and offer influence with suppliers at factory level to ensure efficient project delivery. JWF managed the complete instrumentation supply chain for the module, including 31 sub-suppliers. Specialist services included delivery schedules, material compliance, QA inspections, special calibrations, dimensional analysis and final documentation packs.
The Outcome
With extensive experience of the UK oil and gas industry and 54 years spent in instrumentation, we were well placed to meet the project’s instrumentation delivery needs. Our team also provided vital continuity on the project, which has seen four lead engineers since September 2013. Through our experience and commitment to added value, we ensured on-time delivery of instrument packages and surpassed both procurement and engineering expectations.
