JWF 3G pitch opens at GHA
GHA RFC had the official opening of the JWF 3G pitch for the GHA v Marr game. The opening ceremony was led by Ian Barr, Vice President of the SRU and Brian Tracey, President of GHA RFC.
The club spent three years seriously planning and fundraising to make this happen, along with JWF's long term Sponsorship.
The 3G pitch will provide GHA Rugby Club with a world class all weather training and playing arena, helping the club to meet its ambitions as a community club going forward. The pitch carries the company colours of JWF as the principle sponsors of the new facility which is floodlit and meets both SRU and IRB International standards. It was highly appropriate that the match to open the new facility was a 2nd XV game which is coached by Kenneth Fairbairn, who also happens to be our chief executive at JWF Process Solutions. Kenneth has been a player and member of the club since its Clarkston RFC days.
Kenneth Fairbairn said:
"The sponsorship is a legacy to my late father (Jimmy Fairbairn),who was the first grounds convener at the club in the early 70’s. Indeed he was one of the many volunteers at that time who unearthed chunks of car and significant pieces of debris from the Braidholm ground area provided by the local council. He sadly passed away in 1976, age 49, so my brother Jim and I can think of no better way to acknowledge his and indeed the many other individuals efforts of that time, who all had the common goal of promoting the game of rugby at Braidholm and the Southside of Glasgow – this will be a legacy to them all.”
