Sheet break detection minimises downtime for tissue manufacturing
JWF has installed and commissioned its first KPM KB2 Ranger sheet break detector for use on tissue at a major UK tissue manufacturing site.
This unit is used in the paper and tissue industry to look and alert for a break in the sheet and divert the process if a break is detected, minimising downtime in the production process.
Andrew Taylor, Area Sales Manager for JWF, said: “This is the first installation where the unique KB2 Ranger has been used on a tissue manufacturing site. The KB2 Ranger offers a big advantage over traditional sheet break detector technologies as it is mounted remotely and therefore non-intrusive.”
KB2 Ranger Features
- Freely adjustable sensor head for flexible sensor positioning
- Monitors sheet breaks up to 1.5 meters from the side of the paper web
- Impervious to all paper colours or grades with one button calibration
- One-button initial calibration and automatic break profile update during operation
- Digital filtration with built-in redundancy offers high reliability with one sensor –no chaining of multiple sensors needed to call a break reliably
- Optional easy machine mount for easy installation on the paper machine
The non-contact, adjustable sensor is equipped with an optimised lens packet and can be positioned to the side of the paper web, ensuring effective long detection distance of up to 1.5 meters.
The air-purged sensor head remains clean as it is not affected by dirt, steam, or high temperatures. It is also immune to all colours, grades, ambient light changes and high-intensity LED camera lights.
The single, one-button calibration during startup removes the need for complicated, grade specific settings.
